About Project

Fair to Wear
SHAMANIC CLOTHING

Shamanic Clothing is a fashion label, born when two women, an Australian fashion agent and a Slovenian anthropologist, met in Mali in 2011. Inspired by African fabrics and the Malian people, they decided to create a label based on principles of fairness that promote African made clothing in the West and assist Malian tailors and fabric producers to earn a fair wage.

In doing so, they draw on the sights and sounds of the Malian landscape and our collective experiences of travel, legends, songs, dance and shamanism to bring this label to life.

Shamanic is a social enterprise that looks to aid Malian people through improving their working conditions and trade opportunities. Above all, the label operates with care in mind for those we work with.

The ultimate aim of the project is to be a self-sustaining operation that will ultimately generate funds that can be fed back into the Liminal Institute for Social Transfusion, Creative and Applied Sciences.

http://liminal-institute.org/ and then back into development projects in Mali.

The Clothing:

Colorful, elegant, dramatic and sensual designs combined with classical cuts and shapes, Shamanic clothing has been created for the contemporary nomad, ethnic fusion “fashionistas and for those who understand the journey the clothes took to get to them. Shamanic is a conscious clothing label born of sustainable practice, creating practical results.
